i love music composition! it's really a lot of fun... i can't wait until i get to hear the final product.
so temperatures are decreasing like mad in norcal, if you know what i mean. although, i shouldn't be complaining, because i'm still technically in california and really now: how could we ever be a comparison to new york or something? i mean, really. navneet's probably freexing his butt off right now. pobrecito. :) heehee. but since we californians are spoiled like this, i will still keep complaining about how cold i am and how much i want summer to come back.
oh, i had such a great experience today (11/17) in music class. well... i have three music classes, but in the first one, i was really frustrated because the people in my class were just inconsiderate. but at the end of class, my instructor wanted to play the cello for us. it's her primary instrument, so we expected a lot out of her even before she opened her cello case. and she played excerpts from pieces composed by haydn (a very gifted composer, but i personally don't enjoy his compositions as much as i do other composers) and such. and then we gave requests, and she kinda just pulled them out of her butt. she'd be like, "i don't remember the whole piece, but..." and bust out in some crazy piece. it was so frikkin' awesome. and it was actually the very first time i had heard just a cello sound (by a great celloist, mind you), this full, vibrant sound... oh, it was absolutely gorgeous. and frikkin' crazy: the cello cost like, $70,000+, easy. and she was like, "if i plan to keep playing in the professional world, i would need to upgrade to a better cello, which goes from about $100,000..." and my friend in class was like, "...or maybe buy myself a nice-ass car?! yeah, that's what i'd rather do." and that should really put things into perspective, right?
but it made me want to play the cello so much... that's it: my kid is SO playing the cello. :-D
